Year 6 meet Roger and Maurice...

We were very fortunate to have met two special people on the interviewing day back in September. Roger and Maurice both went to Red Cross Street School from 1949 - 1955. That school was the old West Park Primary School, if you like, and was situated where ASDA now is. It was built in1873 and demolished in 1976. Very kindly they agreed to come back again last week, to talk to Year 6 about their experiences of growing up next to the Molineux football ground and their memories of school. They reminisced about games they used to play in the streets, about meeting the Wolves players on their way to training, and also about their old school.

In fact...Roger even brought a piece of the old Red Cross Street school to show the children. It was specially saved for him when it was demolished. He brought in the heavy stone which had fragments of engraved lettering of the school's name. The stone used to be situated on the front of the building. Which two incomplete letters from the school's name can you see on the stone?
